Why can’t I add another record?
The free allowance is 20 undeleted records, including completed and forgotten records. Recently Deleted does not count. Remove records you no longer need to make room. Purchases are not currently available.
Until the end of December 31, 2026 in Beijing time (UTC+8), you can activate a 24-hour promotional allowance in Settings to relax the record limit. After it expires, you can activate it again while the promotion remains open. Periods do not stack. The deadline stops new activations; an active allowance continues until its scheduled expiry.
Expiry does not delete existing records. Only the limit on adding records returns; viewing, editing and playback remain available.
Why is there no transcript?
Transcription requires iOS 26 or later, a supported device and system language, and prepared Apple speech models. Recognition follows the system language, not the app’s display language.
Only the first 30 seconds of a longer recording are transcribed; the full original audio is retained. Recording, playback and manual text entry still work without transcription, or with automatic transcription off. Editing your text does not overwrite the first transcript or original audio.
Why hasn’t my other device updated?
Check that both devices use the same iCloud account, have network access and available storage, and have sync enabled in Jot. Open Sync to check its status or retry. Background delivery is not guaranteed to be immediate.
An account change pauses sync; it does not automatically transfer the previous account’s content to another account. Turning sync off does not remove local or cloud records. Delete records in the app, then allow the relevant devices to complete sync.
Do not uninstall the app as your first troubleshooting step: you could lose local content that has not synced. Version copies retained during sync review stay on the device and do not sync across devices.
Can I restore a deleted record?
Main records remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days. During that time, you can restore them as a to-do or completed record, subject to available allowance. Cleanup runs after expiry while the app is running; a closed app, offline device or cleanup failure may delay processing.
Version copies follow their list’s rules and original timestamps. Moving a completed record to its archive is not deletion. Copies in Recently Deleted also expire after 30 days; copies in other lists have no additional automatic deletion deadline. There is currently no separate control for deleting a version copy.
Exported files, external backups and copies held by recipients are not automatically removed when you delete a record in Jot.
How do I export audio or make a backup?
Open a recording’s details and use system sharing to export its original audio file. Local backup in Settings exports supported records and audio. Exported files have no added encryption; choose trusted destinations and recipients.
If a backup cannot fully include pending reviews or retained versions, the app blocks the incomplete backup. Opening the share sheet does not mean the file was saved. Check the chosen destination.
How can I report a problem?
Include your app version, iOS version, device model, steps to reproduce, and whether iCloud sync is enabled. Ordinary feedback does not require logs, private recordings, full tasks or account passwords.
Enable local diagnostics only when needed, then review and actively copy the relevant log. Diagnostics are off by default, last at most one hour per activation, and turn off after restart. Logs stay on the device and are not uploaded automatically.
